How long has it been going on?
The ever-excellent Parliamentary Library has produced a new chronology, Australia and refugees, 1901–2002, at http://www.aph.gov.au/library/pubs/chron/2002-03/03chr02.pdf. It provides a brief overview of Australia’s intake of refugees (more than 600,000 people altogether) and refugee policies from 1901 on. There are some accompanying statistical tables.
